Mobilizing the Arabic-Speaking Church

In 2014, Bishop Amgad Girgis was a theology student in Germany, far from his home in Egypt, when an invitation to a LiFe training in Switzerland changed the trajectory of his ministry forever. He didn't just find a new curriculum; he found a catalyst that made the Great Commission feel achievable for every believer. Amgad realized that one of the greatest missionary challenges of our time—reaching the Arab world—required a tool that could bridge cultural gaps and empower the "ordinary" person in the congregation. Since that training, LiFe hasn’t just been a program for Amgad; it has become a lifelong mission to ignite a Gospel movement among Arabic-speaking communities worldwide.

The spark was carried back to Egypt in early 2015, beginning with a landmark conference in Wadi El-Natron for over 110 leaders. The momentum was electric and quickly crossed denominational lines, eventually uniting pastors from ten different traditions. These leaders weren't looking for abstract theology; they were hungry for a practical way to mobilize their congregations in rural villages and urban centers alike. By implementing the five LiFe topics over five consecutive Sundays, these churches transformed their worship services into outreach hubs. The result was a profound shift in church culture: members who were once silent began inviting friends and neighbors with a zeal and joy that had previously been dormant.

Today, that vision has expanded from the banks of the Nile to the heart of Europe. Now based in Germany, Bishop Amgad works with the official recommendation of the Evangelical Alliance of Arabic Speakers to equip churches in countries like Sweden, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, and the UK. He sees a "Great Awakening" already beginning among Arabs in the diaspora, and he is preparing leaders to meet this moment with confidence. His dream is to see this tool reach even further, into the Orthodox Coptic Church in Egypt, ensuring that every corner of the Arabic-speaking world has the opportunity to hear the Gospel in a clear, relatable way.

Bishop Amgad’s journey is a powerful testament to the fact that when the Church is equipped with the right tools, it becomes God’s primary instrument for pouring blessings upon a nation. He remains convinced that the harvest among Arabic-speaking people is ready, and the LiFe Toolbox is the key to helping pastors unlock the potential of their people. For Amgad, the goal is simple but eternal: to turn every local church into a lighthouse and every believer into a witness, one conversation and one village at a time.
