Transforming Seekers into Disciples
For the leadership at Grace Church in Minsk, the vision was clear: they wanted to see the next generation transformed by the Gospel. Ten years ago, they launched their first outreach using the LiFe Toolbox, but the initial results were sobering. The team had unintentionally imported a rigid, seminar-style format designed for adults, which felt stiff and academic to the young people they were trying to reach. Despite their prayers and hard work, the engagement was low, and the momentum stalled. Many leaders would have seen this as a failure of the tools, but the team at Grace Church recognized it was a mismatch of method, not a failure of the Message.
Refusing to give up, they began to pivot, stripping away the formal lecture feel and replacing it with a relatable, social atmosphere. They moved the chairs from rows to tables and swapped the podium for coffee and snacks. The focus shifted to creating a "safe space" where seeking friends could discuss the big questions of existence: How can we be happy? What is the meaning of life? Why does God allow evil? By integrating the LiFe interactive presentations into this relaxed, table-based environment, the church lowered the "barrier to entry." Suddenly, the Gospel wasn't a lecture to be heard; it was a conversation to be joined.
The strategic shift did more than just reach seekers—it activated the "silent majority" of the congregation. Church members who previously felt unqualified to "preach" found they were perfectly capable of hosting a table and sharing a meal. This mobilization created a culture of discipleship that yielded incredible fruit: over the last decade, Grace Church has seen dozens of people make public decisions for Jesus and enter the waters of baptism. The "failed seminar" had been redeemed into a vibrant, sustainable engine for church growth.
Today, what began as a local adjustment in Minsk has become a model for the entire country. Evgeni, one of the core leaders who navigated those early trials, now spends his time traveling to other churches across Belarus. He equips pastors with the same LiFe materials, but more importantly, he shares the hard-won wisdom of cultural adaptation. His story serves as a powerful reminder to church leaders everywhere: when you pair the right tools with a willingness to listen and adapt, the harvest is not just a possibility—it is an inevitability.
