From parents' tradition to personal conviction

For the Slavic church community in Atlanta, the pews were full, but the leadership sensed a quiet crisis brewing. While the older generation held fast to their traditions, the youth were drifting. For these middle schoolers, Christianity was viewed merely as "their parents’ culture"—a heritage to be respected, perhaps, but not a life to be lived. They attended services, but they hadn't encountered the Lord. The church invited Anton and Iryna Kraft to help bridge this widening gap, knowing that without a genuine encounter, the next generation would eventually walk away.

Anton and Iryna knew that entertainment alone wouldn't solve a spiritual disconnect. Drawing on their deep experience both in youth ministry and LiFe, they organized a five-day camp designed to move the students from observation to participation. They utilized the 5 LiFe topics as the spiritual backbone of the week, dedicating each day to a fundamental question of existence. They moved from the universal desire of "How to be happy?" to the difficult hurdles of "Why does God allow evil?" and "What is the meaning of life?" These weren't just lectures; they were conversations wrapped in high-energy fun, deep worship, and prayer, culminating in the topics of "Discovering the gift of God" and stepping into "Life in new dimensions."

The impact was immediate, but more importantly, it was lasting. By creating a space where hard questions were met with biblical truth, the "God of their parents" became their personal Savior. Most of the young people at that camp made a decisive commitment to follow Jesus that week. Now, four and five years later, the fruit of that ministry is undeniable. Those same students are not only still present in the church but are actively involved and serving. It serves as a powerful reminder to pastors everywhere: when we equip our youth with the right tools to process their faith, they don't just stay in the building—they become the church.
